Quotes are short sound-bites of intelligence. They offer a simple yet powerful way of communicating
meaning from those who have gone before us. Abraham Lincoln perhaps captured this sentiment best when he said:
|
"Writing, the art of communicating thoughts to the mind through the eye, is the great
invention of the world...enabling us to converse with the dead, the absent, and the
unborn, at all distances of time and space."
- Abraham Lincoln

The idea for the name QuotemPole, came from the Totem Poles that the American northwest coastal Indians
carve from giant cedar trees. The figures used in a Totem Pole are symbols, usually of animals and birds.
Some poles tell of events that have happened to a clan, while others are about a history of a particular family.
The story that a Totem Pole tells is a condensed way of passing on meanining, in that many things are said with
only a few symbols.
